Bentley Motors has unveiled the pièce de résistance in its rejuvenated Heritage Collection – the bespoke 2020 Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase, masterpiece meticulously handcrafted at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe. This final example of the Mulsanne has returned home after an illustrious service with the Royal household, commissioned and built for Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The last Mulsanne testament to Bentley's commitment to luxury, boasts solid Barnato green exterior, paired with an interior adorned in Twine and Cumbrian hide, Burr Walnut wood veneers, and plush deep lambswool carpets. Commissioned for royal duties, it features rear privacy curtains and the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom inlaid into the door waistrails. Notably, the front center armrests were replaced with custom sized tray to accommodate the Queen’s handbag.
Understated yet regal the Mulsanne hides discreetly concealed blue police lights and siren and bullhorn, all operated by a dedicated switch panel discreetly located behind a walnut-veneered door. Bentley’s famous 537PS 6.75L V8 engine, 21” alloy wheels, chrome brightware, and the iconic Flying B complete this royal chariot. It proudly stands as the third and final Mulsanne in Bentley’s Heritage Collection, joining the ranks alongside the second Mulsanne ever built (VIN 0002 from 2010) and a 2019 Mulsanne Speed.
This trio of Mulsannes is part of an expanded 45 car Collection, midway through a three-year program aimed at completely rebuilding family of cars that narrate Bentley’s 104 year history.
Launched at Pebble Beach in 2009 the Mulsanne was groundbreaking development, housing a new variant of Bentley’s 6.75-litre V8 engine and new chassis and revamped exterior and interior designs. In 2016 new Mulsanne, with upgraded luxury standards, was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show.
In 2020 bidding adieu to the Mulsanne marked the production of the final 30 series production cars, forming the unique ‘6.75 Edition by Mulliner’. The name pays homage to the car’s legendary 6.75L engine, which concluded production after more than 60 years.
The Mulsanne production stalwart for over decade, witnessed the handcrafting of 7,300 cars at Bentley’s factory in Crewe. Today these cars stand as testament to Bentley’s dedication to excellence.
The Heritage Collection now comprises 45 cars, representing Bentley's evolution from the 1919 3-Litre EXP2 to the 2021 Continental GT Speed. Maintained at Bentley’s carbon-neutral Dream Factory in Crewe, England, these cars offer glimpse into Bentley's rich history. Customers, VIPs, media guests, and Bentley colleagues can explore this historical journey as part of the factory tour experience.
