BMW Motorrad Prepares for 2025 WorldSBK Season with Double Test Session

As the countdown to the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship continues, BMW Motorrad Motorsport has intensified its preparations with a demanding double test session. The ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team recently hit the track in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, followed by another session in Portimão, Portugal. These tests saw a mix of challenges, including poor weather and regulatory changes, but BMW remains confident in its competitive edge with the new BMW M 1000 RR.

Testing Challenges and Key Developments

The first test at Jerez saw Michael van der Mark (NED) returning to form, while reigning WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu (TUR) joined the team at Portimão after recovering from a finger injury. The new FIM regulations, including restrictions on the Super-Concession frame and a fuel flow limit of 47 kg/h, have forced BMW and other teams to rethink their strategies. Despite these hurdles, the BMW Motorrad team has made significant progress in adapting the M 1000 RR to these changes.

The BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Test Team also played a crucial role, with riders Sylvain Guintoli (FRA) and Markus Reiterberger (GER) providing valuable data to fine-tune the bike’s setup. Their collaboration with the race team ensures a strong foundation for the upcoming season.

Optimism Ahead of the 2025 WorldSBK Opener

Despite limited track time due to rain and wind, BMW’s riders and engineers remain optimistic about their readiness for the season opener at Phillip Island, Australia, from February 21-23. Both Razgatlioglu and van der Mark expressed confidence in the M 1000 RR, highlighting improvements in handling and performance.

Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, summed up the tests:
"It was not an easy winter due to unpredictable weather, but we’ve built a solid base. Our riders have shown great potential, and we’re ready for Phillip Island."

With another two-day test session scheduled before the first race, BMW Motorrad is determined to make an impact in the 2025 WorldSBK season.
