Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Invests in Future Talent with New Apprentice Intake at Goodwood
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has welcomed a fresh intake of 31 talented apprentices to its prestigious Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence and Headquarters at Goodwood. These promising young individuals will spend the next two to four years honing their skills and contributing to the legacy of one of the most renowned luxury car brands in the world. This new cohort brings the total number of apprentices currently training at the Home of Rolls-Royce to 98, reinforcing the marque’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled craftspeople, managers, and leaders.
Nurturing Future Talent at the Home of Rolls-Royce
Gunther Boehner, Director of Manufacturing at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, emphasized the importance of the apprenticeship programme, stating, “Welcoming a new intake of Apprentices to the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood is always a very special day, both for the new arrivals and for us. These talented, committed young people, all of whom have already completed a rigorous selection process, represent the future of our business: the world-class craftspeople, managers, and leaders who will shape Rolls-Royce in the future. Today, they’re embarking on what will be a challenging but transformative and life-enhancing journey to discover new skills and knowledge, the world of work, and, not least, aspects of themselves. A Comprehensive Training Experience
This year’s apprentices will gain hands-on experience in various departments, including the Interior Trim Centre, Technical Assembly, Sewing, Interior Surface Centre, Robot Operations, Milling Machining, Exterior Surface Centre, Assembly, and Test & Finish. Reflecting the evolving landscape of luxury automotive manufacturing, Rolls-Royce has also introduced apprenticeship opportunities in emerging fields such as Data Analytics and Product Development for the first time.
The apprenticeships combine practical training with academic study, leading to nationally recognized qualifications through partnerships with local education institutions. Apprentices on Level 2 and 3 programmes will attend vocational courses at Chichester College Group, renowned for its outstanding Ofsted rating. Those pursuing Degree Apprenticeships will complete their studies at the University of Chichester, ranked among the top 40 universities in the UK, further enriching their educational journey.
Engaging with the Community and Inspiring the Next Generation
As part of its commitment to future talent, Rolls-Royce actively participates in careers fairs and seminars at schools and colleges, working closely with organizations like the Education Development Trust (EDT) and the Government-backed Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP). These initiatives aim to inspire and guide students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers. To further engage prospective applicants, Rolls-Royce is hosting a series of webinars throughout September, showcasing opportunities within its Future Talent programme, which includes Internships, Graduate roles, and Apprenticeships.
