McLaren and United Autosports Gear Up for 2025 FIA WEC Season with New Look and Stronger Line-up

McLaren Automotive, in partnership with United Autosports, is set to make an even bigger impact in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. With a refreshed livery and a strengthened driver line-up, McLaren aims to build upon its successful debut in the LM GT3 class while celebrating the 30th anniversary of its legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans victory.

McLaren’s Impressive WEC Debut

Entering WEC in 2024 with the 720S GT3 EVO, McLaren quickly demonstrated its racing prowess. The cars secured front-row lockouts in Bahrain, a podium finish in Brazil, and an overall top-ten ranking in the championship standings. The 2024 season also marked McLaren’s return to Le Mans with car numbers 59 and 95, a tribute to the 1995 McLaren F1 GTR that famously won the prestigious endurance race on its first attempt.

A Bold New Look for 2025

For the upcoming season, McLaren and United Autosports have redesigned the livery to highlight more of McLaren’s signature Papaya color. Enhancing the aerodynamic contours of the 720S GT3 EVO, the new design features a Papaya-colored hood, splitter, and rear wing. The bold accents extend to the lower bodywork and door blade, complementing the car’s aerodynamic flow and emphasizing McLaren’s racing DNA.

Revamped Driver Line-Up

McLaren’s 2025 WEC campaign will feature a formidable driver line-up, mixing experience with fresh talent:

  • Car 59: James Cottingham (UK) and Gregoire Saucy (Switzerland) return after securing a top-ten finish in 2024, with French driver Sébastien Baud joining them for his second WEC season.
  • Car 95: Japanese racer Marino Sato is joined by British GT Champion Darren Leung and Indonesian WEC veteran Sean Gelael. This trio brings race-winning experience and a strong competitive edge to McLaren’s championship aspirations.

The Road Ahead in 2025

The FIA WEC season kicks off in Qatar on February 28, with a total of eight rounds across prestigious circuits, including:

  • Europe: Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, and the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans
  • Americas: São Paulo and Texas
  • Asia & Middle East: Japan and Bahrain (final round in November)

With proven speed, endurance, and a world-class driver line-up, McLaren and United Autosports are set to challenge for the WEC title in 2025.
