The previous lap record, set in 2022, had already established the Mercedes-AMG ONE as a benchmark in performance and engineering. But as Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, put it: "At AMG, we always want to push the boundaries of what is possible." For the record-setting lap, Maro Engel utilized the "Race Plus" driving program of the AMG ONE, which provided maximum aerodynamic efficiency, tighter chassis settings, and the lowest possible ride height. The hypercar’s Drag Reduction System (DRS), activated by a button on the steering wheel, retracted the front louvres and adjusted the rear wing to reduce drag, allowing for greater speeds on the straights. In more technical, twisty sections of the Nürburgring, the aero elements were deployed once more to maximize downforce, ensuring both speed and stability.
The active aerodynamics of the AMG ONE are designed to dynamically adjust to track conditions, offering the perfect balance of speed and control.
